China Constructs: I am currently developing “China Constructs” into a book manuscript for academic press publication. The new adaptation expands my research into how China has become a space for imagining urban and architectural futures.

Mexico – China Connections: I have begun preparing the groundwork for a second major research project, to take advantage of my dual connections to China and Mexico. “China Exported” explores how trade opportunities have disrupted sociocultural conceptions in Mexico, that create a particularly Mexican “China,” a site of connection and aspiration that operates as a vector of social change for many non-elite merchants and traders in Mexico City.

Material Cultures of Construction: material culture of Chinese construction work, Chinese traditional construction tools, and cultural production of representations of construction work in China and beyond.
